Congratulations Frankfort Square Park District 2016 National Gold Medal Award

Frankfort Square Park District Wins the 2016 National Gold Medal Award.

The Frankfort Square Park District is proud to announce it has been named the 2016 National Gold Medal Award winner in the Class V Division, serving a population of less than 30,000. This annual award is presented by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) for excellence in park and recreation management. Five agencies across the nation are named annually, and the Frankfort Square Park District was the only Illinois recipient of the award this year.
The Frankfort Square Park District has achieved finalist status for this award seven times in its recent history, receiving the Gold Medal Grand Plaque Award in 2007, and again this prestigious award was presented during the annual NRPA Conference on October 6th, held in St. Louis, Missouri. Accepting the award were Jim Randall, Executive Director, Audrey Marcquenski, Director, and Ken Blackburn, President, Board of Commissioners.
Founded in 1965, the Gold Medal Awards program honors communities throughout the U.S. that demonstrate excellence in parks and recreation through long-range planning, resource management, volunteerism, environmental stewardship, program development, professional development, and agency recognition. Agencies are judged on their ability to address the needs of those they serve through the collective energies of citizens, staff and elected officials.
Achieving this accomplishment is only possible with the support of residents, cooperation with local government, guidance of Park Board Members, and efforts of a professional staff that work together to make our community a great place to live.
